Founded in 2009 as a Chicago-based organization dedicated to helping immigrants in the community, the Serbian American Resource Center (Serbian-ARC) is currently in the process of applying for a 501(c)3 non-profit organization status. The primary goal of our organization is to assist immigrants as they adjust to living in the United States. This goal is achieved through enabling their access to necessary psychological, medical, legal, and/or other social service. As they cope with the challenges of living in a new country, many immigrants struggle as a result of not having accurate or adequate information about the process. Our hope is that Serbian-ARC will enable immigrants to access such information and equip them with the tools to overcome most of the obstacles they face. Serbian-ARC will offer a range of services in areas such as employment, immigration, and social service. The services will be provided for individuals, as well as to families experiencing conflict or transition difficulties in their lives. We will provide educational programs and community wellness training to individuals and their families. These programs will encourage self-reliance, self-esteem and self-determination. They will be intended to help diverse groups work together with mutual respect. Serbian-ARC is committed to providing comprehensive information to all Balkan communities living in the U.S. The organization will continuously develop its programs according to the expressed needs of the aforementioned communities.
